Sprinkle Kindness

Public Service Announcement
ART235 | Poster Project
Project Summary:
The assignment is to create a series of three posters for a Public Service Announcement. The posters are to feel like they belong together but give a different message that correlates with the chosen announcement. They are to have a title, a tagline, a logo, the ad council logo, and a URL as part of the call to action. The posters are to be 11” X 17”, and they are to be displayed in mockups on Behance.net.
The posters are to capture people’s attention, so they will want to change and go to the website to learn how to change.

I chose to focus on kindness because the act of kindness affects all people in a variety of ways. Kindness helps people feel that they are noticed, loved, and belong. Kindness promotes healthy mental well-being. Kindness is essential at all ages and at all times in our families, schools, workplaces, and everyday interactions.

Pondering the title “Sprinkle the World with Kindness,” I thought of many different areas of kindness. The three areas of focus I had in my mind as I created these are kindness in the workplace, traveling, and our example to others.

The poster campaign is geared toward all ages: those who can read and those who cannot. The hand-designed sprinkles with the people graphic show ways to incorporate kindness. I chose line art instead of photographs to keep the poster light and airy. I used gradient color in both the secondary title and the graphic to keep with the feel of the colorful sprinkles.
Engage in acts of kindness: by keeping our eyes and hearts open and aware of what people may be going through, we can find ways to help. Sometimes, just walking by someone and smiling at them is all it takes to brighten someone else’s day.
Lead by Example: Children, youth, young adults, and adults often learn or get ideas by example.  Parents can teach kindness by how they treat family members and how they behave in public. Youth and adults can teach others how to be kind by how they treat each other.
Navigate with your Heart: Most people travel each day one way or another. Whether it is a car, a motorcycle, a bicycle, a skateboard, public transportation, or by foot, we can be kind and thoughtful and think with our hearts even when it is crazy busy or crowded.

Smile and sprinkle the world with kindness.
